Antonelli

The Antonelli family is very religious and one of their most beloved adornments is Pieta. The sorrow and pain shown in this carving illustrates the true sacrifice of our Lord. This family monument also incorporates the Alpha and Omega (the beginning and end) as well as the Chi Rho (the monogram for Christ) as Christ is the beginning and the end. Pieta is also enveloped with Laurel Leaf branches. In Christianity, Laurel symbolizes the resurrection of Christ and the triumph of humanity. The use of all the symbols and contrasting granite colors enhances the overall monument, adding dimension and visual interest and harmony to each area of design and lettering.
