This monument represents Eli’s favorite things in his short life. A life that was cut short by a sudden illness. His parents brought images of several items that Eli played with. His favorite was several stuffed giraffes. They also liked the idea of incorporating a bench that they could sit on while visiting his grave. They loved the idea of placing several of the images on the blocks and we able to use most of the surfaces by cutting a small flat spot on the bottom of the top cube and balancing it on top of the bottom cube. The blocks measure 14” square. We carved a large giraffe on the right end of the tablet to frame Eli’s name and dates. The dark spots on the giraffe where accomplished by finishing the entire surface just short of a polish finish then sandblasting the background for contrast. This will make a nice permanent contrast without the use of any litho or paint.
