This Soccer themed monument was created to be interactive. A 10″ sphere was blasted into a soccer ball and pinned in the free space between the two dies with a stainless steel rod. The rod is just loose enough to allow the ball to free spin in void area, while keeping it secure to the memorial. The two piece rod was created with a coupler and bolt that hide within the stone to allow it to bolt together. Texture was used to create the geometric shape by using the BRP on the base on the left and the shell rock flanking the top portion of the Right side die. This gives the abstract symbolism of a goalie’s gloves catching a ball mid flight. The textures were purposely created in opposite order to allow the opposing textures to merge at the soccer ball. This is very iconic of what you see in Mexican league soccer jersey’s.
