The Fleming monument was created for a young beekeeper. We wanted to illustrate that bee keeping was a large part of his life but not his whole identity. Although bees are an important part of the process, we decided to make the honey a pronounced theme. To give context to the bee box design on the back, we placed a small bee image on the front. This particular bee was drawn by Jacob as part of a school project. The front of the monument has a tear away design of honeycomb with a line of honey dripping out. His life is represented by the honey coming out of the comb, that’s the sweet part.
