Hawley & Vassos

This sculpted memorial has many unique features and details very special to the families of Henry and George.

George Vassos lost his partner of 56 years. This special couple spent their lives dedicated to the arts. I met with George to design the memorial and learned what a gifted couple they were. Henry dedicated his life to our Museum of Art as the curator for over 40 years while George dedicated his life teaching at our Institute of Music. Sophistication, Beauty and Elegance were their world. We designed the Doric Column corners on this faux bench monument to represent the classic art form they both loved.

The Greek cross was added to show George’s faith.

Sadly George passed just 6 months after Henry. George’s niece said he died of a broken heart. I think that must be true.
