When the family came in to see us, they talked about her love of owls and sunflowers. They were wanting to go with a standard serp top, but after I received the contract and started thinking how great it would be to make the monument an owl, I couldn’t stop on the design. To bring in her love of sunflowers I put them on the wings by just leaving them polished and the wing sandblasted (so it was just a simple statement).
