Mike had a strong faith and a strong passion for ministry. He met his wife while on a mission trip overseas. They served for many years with college outreach programs through the organization Cru. He was not one to shy away from a challenge and was a man of strength. The asymmetrical gold cross symbolizes his bold faith. He was a great father and showed great love towards his family. He was very involved with his kids’ extracurriculars and volunteered by coaching their softball and baseball teams. It was a great accomplishment when his daughters’ team brought home a championship a few years ago. Since Mike’s kids are still young, it was important for the monument to have an aspect that related to them too. The horizontal bar that joins the two larger blocks together functions as a bench for his kids to sit and share their accomplishments with their dad as they grow.
