Hugo Black Memorial

Categories: ,

Hugo Black was a Civil Rights Champion, US Senator, and Supreme Court Justice. Justice Black carried a pocket-size version of the US Constitution everywhere he went. He is holding it in the bronze bust on this memorial. The American Black granite pillar represents the Supreme Court Justice Bench. Each Georgia Gray tablet tells a chapter of Judge Black’s journey from Alabama to the Supreme Court. The memorial stands on the original Black homestead site in Ashland, Alabama.
