As a boy in England, Mr. Lawler, would wander over to the stone mason next door and watch as he created lead lettering on monuments. A business owner and craftsman, he especially appreciated hand craftsmanship and wanted exactly three roses hand carved on the stone. The quintessential Englishman, he was very conservative and resolute regarding the design. In addition to the roses he requested a masonic emblem, the T-bird he restored for his wife and their photo. The acanthus at the top of the design symbolizes their ascension to heaven.
