What started as a challenge to design a stone on a budget became a beautiful monument for the Morales family. This stone came to us as an oddly-sized Serp top that was impossible to sell. After staring at the stone and playing around with all the apparent possibilities, I decided to try splitting the stone in two and working with it that way. When the Morales family came in, they shared that Vinceta was a twin and had earned the nickname “pistola”. Not being able to inscribe “cuata pistola” onto the monument due to the cemetery, had us looking for other ways to include that key part of who she was. The vertical split gave us a way to convey the twin aspect of her story.
