Potter Monument

The Potter family wished to capture their son’s unwavering belief in God and his unconditional love for his family and friends. The hand-chiseled rays accentuate a textured bronze cross along with a favorite bible scripture. The irregular textures represent life’s ups and downs. A poem, “The Dash”, had special meaning so the dates were staggered, using a dash between, to represent all of Mark’s accomplishments, despite his young age. The back was an emotional challenge to narrow down pictures and verses. An unlikely picture choice, showing Mark with outstretched arms overlooking “the heavens”, took on an extremely powerful meaning when a simple verse, sent from a friend, became a perfect match. The small addition of a single heart containing the first initial of his girlfriend and her two sons completed the back. Upon viewing the finished design they realized their initials together matched his!
