Sadly, Emily died of an over dose after battling years of substance abuse, her mother described her as a wonderful vibrant soul that just couldn’t over come her addiction. The one common bond she had with her parents was their love of nature. They spent many hours birding on the south shores of Lake Erie, the bronze birds on the memorial represent their bond together as a family. The rustic shape of the granite represents their love of all things in nature. The Contrasting black granite bench connects Emily and her parents, along with the simple branch carving. The Verse on the front and top of the bench was written by Emily and the engraved lettering is done in her own handwriting.
