The arch represents passage into Heaven – The angel mourns the loss of our earthly bodies. The inside arch is accented with subtle, fine finishing detail while the outside arch has a heavy rocky border – this represents how our suffering is here on earth but all turmoil is left behind once we enter into the safe passage of Heaven.
