A bronze soldier rests in reflection atop a stoop in war-torn Europe.
For the design process, I drafted a European street facade section and then “broke” it apart as if a bomb had detonated near the site. The pieces strewn about the site are the remnants of the structure that still stands and could be reassembled to the main monument like a puzzle. Several of the fallen pieces serve as seating.
The monument consists of about 40 pieces of stone and stands over 14’ tall.
